Presentation

La langue, et son souffle

A sensitive exploration of the Arabic language, voice and breath - a dialogue between spirituality, physicality and cultural heritage.

  • Parler en paix
    L'arabe, c'est de l'hébreu
    A creation by Anaïs Agbo (2009, 5mn)
    Production & mix: Samuel Hirsch

The ‘Parler en paix’ association offers to teach Arabic and Hebrew at the same time. An opportunity to hear how these two languages are often closely related, through a few emblematic words: border, territory, flag, peace...

  • La danse du souffle
    L'art soufi de la respiration
    A creation by Olivier Toulemonde (2012, 16mn)
Production & mix :  Samuel Hirsch

The art of breathing to come into the world, the art of blowing to stand up straight: a Sufi heritage practised by dancer Abdeslam Michel Raji. For him, breathing is not just a matter of breathing, it's a dance, an art, a technique learnt as a child in Morocco within a Sufi community. Inhale, listen, blow!

  • Dalida et moi
    Une mélancolie arabe (1/5)

    A creation by Léa Veinstein (2019, 15mn)
Original music & direction: Arnaud Forest

After many tears over Dalida's YouTube videos, Léa met the Moroccan writer Abdellah Taia, a fan of the singer. The author of the book ‘Une mélancolie arabe’ sees Dalida as a symbol of exile and immigration. That's how he recognises himself in her: Dalida is an Arab woman who, like him, has taken to the sea.
