Lorraine de Sagazan and Anouk Maugein

France / Creation 2023

An installation as sanctuary of sorrow where each given object carries the memory of an injustice and refuses to forget.

Presentation

The result of a collaboration between Lorraine de Sagazan and Anouk Maugein, Monte di Pietà is a deep dive into injustice and the pain it causes. Director and scenographer have collected around two hundred objects for the occasion, objects which are all linked to the traumatic memory of violences or crimes but which their owners couldn’t bring themselves to throw away. Tagged and catalogued, those items pile up to create a sanctuary of sorrow.

Los objetos presentes en la instalación pertenecen a personas que Lorraine de Sagazan ha ido conociendo en los dos últimos años. Todos contienen el recuerdo de una injusticia.

On July 20 and 21 between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., the installation is activated by a poetic performance combining storytelling and improvisation with texts by Laura Vazquez.
