1977. Two years after Franco’s death, Spain voted the Amnesty Law, freeing all political prisoners but prohibiting the investigation of Francoist crimes. The abuses of the dictatorship were swept under the rug. But over the past few years, some Spanish citizens who survived Franco’s regime have been seeking justice in Argentina to break this “pact of forgetting” and punish the guilty. For six years, with a direct and intimate style, the directors have followed victims and survivors of the Spanish dictatorship as they organised the so-called “querellaargentina,” that is, the trial of the torturers which would lead to the opening of Republican mass graves…
