Christine Dormoy trained as an actor, and when she met Jean-Louis Hourdin, she set up her first troupe in a rural area in 1979. With them she put on Lorca, Ruzzante, Valentin and Mrozek. Her next company, Le Grain, was formed in 1986 after she delved into the world of music. The company performances combine literary texts and musical texts by Berio, Stockhausen, Aperghis, Scelsi, Beckett, Perec, Drouet, Kermann, Deleuze and Jankélévitch. In 1995, she tackled her first Valère Novarina script, Le Danseur Disparu (The Lost Dancer), the next was Devant la Parole (In Front of the Spoken Word) in 2005. The next stage, Ajour plays in the Pope's Cellar in the Chartreuse. In this Platonic cavern, a place full of holes with a vaulted ceiling, the “logoscopie” (vision of language) which is dear to Valère Novarina will be carried out in an ensemble of fourteen sequences, inflections, injunctions, reflections on language, for four voices – two actors, one viola player and a singer.
It is an invitation to extirpate language from the “hell of communication” so that it can become the “spiritual matter of the human body”.
