Presentation

The boxer in his ring is the modern-day Prometheus. He exposes his body to everyone's gaze, and for everyone's pleasure agrees to have this body “knocked-out”. This is Rodrigo Garcìa' s assertion. Garcia is an Argentinian writer living in Spain whose dreams float around Greek myths, but who does not write adaptations of Eschylus. Prometheus, sacrificed by the gods whom he had defied, was stuck, for eternity, on a rock. Everyday, an eagle devours his liver. Everyday, his liver grows back. Like the boxer, who untiringly, gets up and returns to the fight. Like the actor, each evening, gets back on stage. Rodrigo García, in the same way as a painter, shows the faces of the martyr, he speaks of sacrifice, of giving of oneself, of passion, in a text that intertwines tenderness and brutality, that meshes violence and poetry. In recurrent flashes, these martyr-like representations of the last two thousand years, come back, of a saint pierced with arrows, Sebastian. And then, without warning, a moment of gentleness, confusing the evocation of torment, music is heard. It's the sublime voice of an opera singer, and Mozart's talent. François Berreur, the director, scrutinizes the universe of Rodrigo García. He, in turn, becomes the coach of over-exposed bodies; of the actors, ready for battle and thrown into the theatre arena.
