Christophe Huysman comes into the atypical, impossible-to-categorize genre. His insatiable curiosity and energy that come from his desire make him a polymorphic being, a poet, writer, photographer, director and actor. Huysman explores the world, then brings it on stage so that everyone can see and hear it. This man is called HYC and it is the adventure of a man who contains all human beings inside him. It is a life story, from birth to death, the route of a body which has come and struck humanity with full force, and which bears the marks. If it is phenomenal, larger-than-life and excessive, this body is nonetheless familiar to us all because it also carries inside what is intimate, personal and particular. Throughout one whole night, where shapes collide, taking the paths that technology offers it, the play exposes a phenomenal and unique experiment. Something of cosmogonic nature takes shape where language reinvents istelf while writing threads its way through text and polaroid, actor and video, plastic arts and theatre. HYC gives the impetus for and maintains a movement which is, in fact, an attempt – an attempt to connect, in a space that has become extraordinary, those who are living together in the present moment. And the spectator, for the nine hours the trip lasts, is free to move around in this shared space, or even to leave, eat and drink, while remaining connected to the world of HYC.
