Passages is the fruit of a meeting between the composer Kris Defoort and choreographer Fatou Traoré, whose eclectic life led him to Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, to Alain Platel and various other Belgian choreographers. The common factor they share is jazz, a permanent tension between form and freedom. Ten virtuoso jazz musicians and six magnificent dancers enjoy that same buzz from playing on the brink between harmony and chaos, individually or as an ensemble. The dance meets the music and evolves like a cresando to a point where everyone is disorientated.
