Presentation

Music-hall : on stage are three characters who are performers. One girl and two boys going from one seedy theatre to another. Everywhere they go there is sadness and beauty : theatre.

Le Bain : on stage, there is only one character. That day, in a dressing room, he tells us a personal story of passion that is one of the most beautiful souvenirs of his life and that he shared with a man with a fatal illness.

Le Voyage à La Haye : on stage, there is only one character, the same one, the troup leader. He tells us in a discret way, his own destiny. In The Hague, where his troup is performing a play that he has directed, he cannot linger with his actors. The hospital is waiting for him in Paris. He goes back. The images of the world and of others come to him with strange echos and an emotion that is never entirely expressed in such a personal style of writing.

This "diptych with interlude" is in reality one single play. The imaginary and the real life of an author who we recongnise today as being one of the most important in contemporary French theatre, come together on stage and outline a double portrait. Attached to a metamorphosis of the venue and the actors, François Berreur has directed this work in such a way as to create a simple ceremony, slightly mocking and definitely moving, where the poet's mental universe is given its amplitude.Lagarce (1957-1995) wrote Music-Hall in 1989. Le Bain and Le Voyage à La Haye were written in 1994.
