To mark the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the appointment of Jean-Vilar as director of the Théâtre National Populaire in 1951, the thirtieth anniversary of his death in 1971 and the centenary of the Associations Act in France in 1901, the exhibition recalls the permanent cooperation among the teams at the TNP and different groups, and movements working for education for all, led by tireless and devoted campaigners. In 1953 the headline in one newspaper read "Le miracle d'Avignon : des gens heureux d'être ensemble", which roughly translated means The Miracle of Avignon: People Happy to be Together. In Paris, at the Palais de Chaillot, in the suburbs, in the provinces and abroad, that sensitively and respectfully shared joy is still today what characterises this marvellous adventure.
