Presentation

Gloria is a work composed of three separate texts. A young woman, Gloria, tells the stories of three moments in her existence: sales assistant in a shoe store, waitress in a bar and witness and hostage in a bank hold-up. Gloria tells her story. Gloria tells stories that tell her. She is a matrix that engenders the other characters. Her tale brings them to life or makes them disappear. A free electron, around which the fable is wound, Gloria is alone on stage, all the other protagonists in her story exist only in image and/or sound. In this space that is in between reality and appearence, she tries to keep the ghosts of daily life at bay: lost humanities, abandoned to their doubts and their dubious certainties. She struggles to survive in a world that is constantly hiding. Overwhelmed by her own fiction, drowning in the virtuality of the multiplying screens, she is threatened with dissolving. Her body is the final rampart, the only tangible reality bearing witness to her presence in the world. The unabridged script of the play is published by Lansman Editeur entitled Eva, Gloria, Léa.
