The Centre des Monuments Nationaux suggested to the Compagnie Ilotopie to combine a place, the Fort Saint André, with live performance. This comes down to marrying drama and architecture, that means enclosing the playing area within the very limits of intimacy. This fortified edifice that was once used as a prison, is today visited by people who follow its stoney paths and spiral stairs with nonchalance. Cachots / Cachotteries, was written for the Festival d'Avignon and the venue is a crossroads for the company Ilotopie that challenges the body's limits and desires.
