An exhibition of work by children suffering from cancer. There is no place where art has no place. About fifty works by children aged six to seventeen receiving care at the Institut Gustave-Roussay at Villejuif outside Paris (the leading institution for the fight against cancer in Europe) are overwhelming. For children the language of images is so important because it is a vehicle for what they feel, their emotions and their unconscious wants they are most often not expressed openly. For them, to create is to exist, to establish a link with life. Dexia Credit Local, is sponsor of this exhibition and also has been a partner to the Festival d'Avignon for eighteen years. It is happy to offer people the opportunity to see the beauty andthe emotion in these Self-portraits which will travel to about twenty other French towns after the Festival.
