Le Royal de Luxe company dreamed of taking on the challenge of a White interpretation of African tales with these nine stories, while at the same time returning to a more intimate form, less subjected to the impact of the crowd. This street-theatre company's preference is the story of everyday life, the tales of the players, and those who manipulate them - two worlds that cannot be dissociated and that come together with the presence of the public, between puppets and scraps of cloth, bits of wood and boxes left lying on the ground. The most salient feature of the Petits Contes by Le Royal de Luxe company is their love of the African people: a cosmonaut for example, weightless and carried by four people, who rotates slowly like in an elephant ballet, who comes gently to earth, who walks and rebounds like a big rubber ball. A real cosmonaut who blasts off. But what relation does this have with Africa ? The stories are the imaginative fruit of little bits and pieces gathered here and there. The relationship between Le Royal de Luxe and Africa is symbolised by this exchange.
