Presentation

Alongside shows from South America, the Festival also wished to keep a place for the play-writing from these countries and introduce it to a francophone public. Every day at midday, in the Jardin des Teinturiers, a play will be read in its French translation by a team of actors directed by Michel Didym. The selection currently under way should present eight texts from Chile, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil. Among others will feature: Marco Antonio de la Parra, Carlos Liscano, Daniel Veronese, Plinio Marcos, Eduardo Pavlosky... For some time now, many people and organizations in France have worked at promoting these South American authors: The Bayonne Festival, La Mousson d'Eté, the Théâtre de l'Odéon or Saint-Denis Theater have all given readings. Publishing houses such as Théâtrales, Actes Sud or Les Solitaires Intempestifs, have published or are preparing anthologies of South American plays. La Maison Antoine-Vitez with Françoise Thanas are multiplying the number of translations... The cycle of play readings is part of the same dynamic.
