Marlene Monteiro Freitas & Trajal Harrell

Born in Cape Verde where she co-founded a dance troupe and collaborated with the musician Vasco Martins, Marlene Monteiro Freitas, after dance studies in Lisbon and Brussels (P.A.R.T.S.), worked with Loïc Touzé, Emmanuelle Huynh, Tânia Carvalho and Boris Charmatz. She most recently created Guintche (2010), A Seriedade do Animal (2009-20), Uns e Outros (2008), A Improbabilidade da Certeza (2006), pieces whose common denominator is openness, impurity and intensity.

Trajal Harrell's work has been presented New York, Berlin, Brussels, Mexico City, Angers, Vanves, Amsterdam, Zagreb, San Francisco...For the last 10 years, his choreographic work has been comparing the aesthetics of voguing with post-modern dance. In 2009, he premiered his piece Twenty Looks or Paris Is Burning at The Judson Church (S) at the New Museum of New York.
