Mamela Nyamza & Faniswa Yisa

Born in 1976 in the township of Gugulethu in Cape Town, the South African dancer and choreographer Mamela Nyamza was trained at the Zama Dance School of Cape Town, then at Tswane University in Pretoria, before continuing her choreographic studies at the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater of New York. Very early on, she compared her dance to complex socio-political issues, notably human rights. She has taught and collaborated on many international projects. On the stage of the Jardin de la Vierge, she has invited Faniswa Yisa, an actress who also comes from Cape Town and who was born in 1976, for an engaged duet.
