Justine Berthillot

Justine Berthillot is a circus artist, stage director and performer.

Initially trained in philosophy, she studied in the preparatory classes hypokhâgne and khâgne before obtaining her Bachelor's degree in philosophy at the Jean Moulin University in Lyon III. She trained in circus arts at the CNAC, and created her first piece Noos with Frédéri Vernier at the CND in Pantin in March 2015, which she toured for four years in France and abroad as a delegated production of the Théâtre du Monfort. At the same time, she participated in the Franco-Caribbean circus/dance creation project Antipode led by the PPCM in France, Chile, Madagascar and Guadeloupe; and continued this collaboration on the creation of Piano sur le fil with the musician Bachar Mar-Khalifé.

In 2015 she created Sujets à Vifs in Avignon with the author Pauline Peyrade and performed Est at the Avignon-IN festival before founding the Morgane company with the latter in 2016 in Lyon. They continued their research into plural writing with Antoine Herniotte and created Poings in 2018 at the CDN du Préau in Vire. In 2019 they complete the second piece of the company with the creation of Carrosse, which is the result of an invitation from the Scènes du Jura and the Comédie de Saint-Étienne to create a travelling piece.

In 2021, she will create Notre Forêt, an in-situ solo, at the Centre Pompidou Metz for the Festival Passages, and in 2022, she will create Desorden, a performance for rollerblades accompanied live by the drummer Xavier Roumagnac.

She is an associate artist at the Scène nationale de l'Espace des Arts in Chalon-sur-Saône.
