Elias Sanbar

A writer, translator of Mahmoud Darwish’s poetry, member of the Palestinian parliament in exile, and Palestinian ambassador to UNESCO since 2006, Elias Sanbar was introduced to French culture by his father, who loved Arab poetry and Victor Hugo in equal measures. He has spent his life building bridges between Arab culture and others, in particular the cultures of French-speaking countries.
