Dada Masilo

Born in Soweto, Dada Masilo trained in classical and contemporary dance before leaving for Europe to join the P.A.R.T.S. school. She now lives in South Africa, where she founded her own company, and has turned her heritage into a hybrid and contrasted dance. In 2013, she worked with William Kentridge on Refuse the Hour. Her shows are often built around shared references, such as Giselle, with which she toured the world in 2017. She is an associate artist with the Dance Factory in Johannesburg and is invited for the first time to the Festival d’Avignon. The public of the Festival d'Avignon will discover for the first time this artist whose show The Sacrifice could not be performed in 2020 and 2021 because of the covid crisis.
