Amir Reza Koohestani

Amir Reza Koohestani was born in 1978 in Shiraz, Iran. His early passion for cinema and for writing (essays, short stories, screenplays) led to his directing his first play when he was but 21. Since then, he has travelled the world with his company, the Mehr Theatre Group. His many adaptations and creations have led to the development of a unique style, at once poetic and critical, a departure from the naturalist tradition of Iranian theatre. After presenting Hearing in 2016 and Summerless in 2018, Amir Reza Koohestani will this year explore a new venue of the Festival d’Avignon: the Lycée Mistral gymnasium.
